Throwback Thursday: “I Want To Be Your Lover”

Today’s throwback is all about a one hit wonder. Have you ever had a song running through your head and you can’t remember who sang it or even what the title of the song is? Have you ever kept singing parts of it to people and nobody else can remember it either? Was the song a one hit wonder?

I had that problem with Aleese Simmons’ “I Want To Be Your Lover.”

I was singing various parts of the song, goggling the parts of the lyrics I could remember, everything. And I couldn’t find the song. I mean, I was singing “Don’t be afraid to let your loving shine, shine, shine, shine… I’ll give you what you want if you will be mine… And feel your love one more time…” I even tried to get the hubby to remember the song. Y’all should have seen me with my no-singing self singing these lyrics to him, trying to get him to remember! But he claimed he couldn’t remember. I goggled the lyrics and found a dang website with other people looking for the same dang song. Luckily had responded on the website with the name of the song and artist. So I went to iTunes thinking I’d just purchase it right away. But it wasn’t available! I found the video on You Tube though. And now at least the song isn’t haunting me anymore. And do you know when I showed the hubby the video on You Tube, he had the nerve to say “Oh yeah, I remember that song.” Y’all should have seen the side-eye I gave him!

So, have you all had lyrics from a song in your head that you can’t remember the artist or the title for? Any one hit wonders that make you wonder what happened to the artist? Do you remember Aleese Simmons’ “I want to Be Your Lover”? And if you do, where were you when I couldn’t get the song out of my head and couldn’t remember who sang it! Enjoy…

Dammit, Gwyneth. Now I’m going to have that song stuck in my head all weekend.

Did she just break out with the Wild Wild West dance?
