Getting to Know Victoria Wells

If you could pass on one tidbit of knowledge to both your fans and aspiring writers, what would it be?

That everyone isn’t going to like what you write. And although this may be, stay true to who you are as a writer because it’s impossible to please everyone.

What authors influence your work?

Leslie Esdaile Banks aka L.A. Banks, Beverly Jenkins, Brenda Jackson, Gwyneth Bolton, and Francis Ray.

Who are some of your favorite authors/books?

Leslie Esdaile Banks, Beverly Jenkins, Brenda Jackson, Gwyneth Bolton, Francis Ray, A.C. Arthur, AlTonya Washington, Adrianne Byrd, Ann Christopher, Celeste Norfleet, Iris Bolling, and Elaine Overton. My all time favorite books that I’ve read over and over are: Sister Got Game by Leslie Esdaile Banks, Someone To Love Me by Francis Ray, Topaz by Beverly Jenkins, and Whispered Promises by Brenda Jackson.

What was the one book that most influenced your life and why?

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs. This is a story about the tenacious spirit of a young woman who refused to be a slave. I was touched by her determination to make freedom for herself and her children a reality. It really put things in perspective for me and made me appreciate the freedoms and liberties I enjoy and often take for granted.

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now?

Full House Seduction by A.C. Arthur and A Second Helping by Beverly Jenkins, and When It Feels So Right by Celeste Norfleet.

If you were to write a book based on your life, what would the title of it be?

The Little Woman That Could. I picked this title because I’ve had plenty of people tell me what I could or couldn’t do. Thank God, He’s always made a way for me to succeed .

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on my first interracial romance novel.

Want to know a little more about me? Please visit me at http://www.victoria-wells.com to find out what the most memorable moment spent with my husband was.

About the book

Sassy talking, no-nonsense Ava Peretti has a mysterious past that has finally caught up with her. Agonizing nightmares terrorize her by night as painful memories of a love lost haunt her by day. Ava has vowed never to love again, but she will soon find out that sometimes vows are made to be broken.

Attorney Langston Warrington III is the one man that can make Ava love again. The only problem is . . . he’s her archenemy! And to make matters worse, Langston has a secret of his own—a secret that will change Ava’s life forever.

Welcome to Gwyneth’s Blog, Victoria! It’s great to have you here. I have to say, y’all this book is so-oo good! If you haven’t read it yet, you need to pick it up today. I loved it. Keep on doing your thing, Victoria.

I’m attending a work-related retreat in Orlando and will be in meetings all day. But I’ll check back when I can sneak a moment away.

So true about everyone not liking what you write. But it’s also true to keep doing your thing and staying true to you. That’s the only way to live life in general.

Much success to both of you ladies.

Hey Victoria! Nice interview. That is good to remember about everyone not liking what you like. I know I am hesitant to let people read what I write because of what they may say about the storyline, etc. Can’t wait to read your new release. It is very inspiring to see you actually doing what you said you would do. God is Good!! Congratulations!

Wow, this last interview has been the cherry on the cake.

Your last statement ragarding the romance you’re working on has made me jump with joy…who knows, maybe within this very year you could have another book coming out and I another one to drool over !!!
Interracial…could you give away some hints?
Is this book connected to the previous three ones you’ve published?
I don’t know why but I keep thinking about Karen and a younger man….who knows…maybe her time is arrived..to find love again.
Oh my, I’ve not Ava’s book yet and I’m already looking forward to Karen’s turn.

It’s not my guilt but yours for being the great storyteller you are. ;-)

I’ve also tried to read Gwyneth Bolton’s “If Only You Knew”, but this romance cannot be found…

Honored to have a friend like you.
    Kiss from Italy…

    …waiting for you, when you want… ;-)

    Hey Luigia!

The interracial short story I’m working on is going to feature an African American woman and Cuban man, titled Caliente. This book is not connected to the others. And yes Karen will be get her own story soon  It seems everyone wants her with a younger man

Oooh, you’re going to love If Only You Knew. That was my first Gwyneth Bolton book and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ll see what I can do about finding a copy for you

Victoria, we enjoy a lot of the same authors. Glad we had the opportunity to “meet” earlier this week. Sometimes Fate intervenes in just the right way.

    Hey Vic,

Here is something special created for one of my favorite authors! I’ve enjoyed the tour and can’t wait to read my book! It is on!!!! LOL!

What began with a Special Summer
And love so wonderful and unique
A man who believed he needed change
Walked out and left Summer in tears on her knees
But true love never being denied
And a heart so desperately in need
Cause love to return and possibly reconcile
    Into a marriage and family
And would this make Nick and Summer’s life complete?

    Then over on the horizon
Depression claimed the light of a Starr to shine bright
Looking for love in many places
Except where it stood in Kevin Dawson’s eyes
Once a womanizer, now a friend
To Starr he came to be
    And When Love Comes Around
Will she see it and claim Kevin Love for eternity?

    With nightmares in abundance
Ava suffers many nights without sweet rest
Seeing her friends Summer and Starr living happily
She hungers for the love she stubbornly rejects
All thoughts, all chances, and hopes within
Of ever finding love and healing again
Until the man she truly despises
    And removed from her memory
    Walks back into her life
    With a determination to succeed
Is Langston Warrington III, the one?
    To usher her into Recovery
Key to My Heart holds the answers
And is available NOW for all to read!

    Hi Victoria,

Congrats on your book and book tour. You are so right when you said we as writers will not please all of the people all of the time. We have to stay true to who we are. You go girl and keep on keepin’ on!

Wow Victoria, a very nice ending to your tour. I have truly enjoyed following you this week and look forward to reading all your new work. I’m glad you figured out early on that everyone will not like your work but others will love it and that will make it worth you to keep on doing what you do. My motto is I never read a bad book, just love some stories better then others.

Luigia, are you sure about wanting to read If Only You Knew? It’s one of those love it or hate it books with a hero who has to do a lot of redeeming in the end… : :???:

    Hey Victoria,

I enjoyed your tour and I cannot wait to read about Ava. I am loved the excerpt of the book and it offers an explanation to why Ava is like she is. What is the next book that you are working on going to be about? I have enjoyed your books and I know that you will continue to write excellent books in the future as well

Gwyneth, Luigia loves super alpha males! So she’s going to enjoy If Only You Knew! Hopefully Caliente will be out in a few months. I just have to finish that last chapter

Roxanna, after I’m done with Caliente I may start on Karen’s story or finish up your name sake’s story  Everybody I love Roxanna’s name so much I just had to make it the name of my of my heroines in an upcoming book

    @Gwyneth

    Hi..^___^w

I’m absolutely sure to wanna read it if I’ll have the chance to get the book and Victoria is helping me to find it.
I’ve tried to buy “If Only You Knew” but it’s out of stock.
I’ve tried to buy it used but the seller wanted to trick me….
I had almost given up but Victoria has given me hope.
    Keep the fingers crossed.
    Thanks again Victoria.^^

I’ll tell you, Carlton is the kind of hero I die for.
I don’t know about the other readers but the first thing I do is to read the negative reviews if there are.
The positive reviews help you but according to me the neagtive ones do a better work…much better.
That’s how it works with me.
And since I read about the *hateful* Carlton I’ve been hooked.

For example, what, at the beginning, has drawn me in “A Special Summer” has been Nick, his complexity, his being what he’s and what he’ll be next after meeting Summer.
I’ve thought: this guy’ll make me cry, laugh, hate him…and love him.
No sooner said than done…
    I’ve the same feeling with Carlton… ;-)
